Roundup is the brand name of a systemic, broad-spectrum glyphosate-based herbicide originally produced by Monsanto, which Bayer acquired in 2018.[2] Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide in the United States.[3] As of 2009, sales of Roundup herbicides still represented about 10 percent of Monsanto’s revenue despite competition from Chinese producers of other glyphosate-based herbicides.[4] The overall Roundup line of products, which includes genetically modified seeds, represented about half of Monsanto’s yearly revenue.[5] The product is marketed to consumers by Scotts Miracle-Gro Company.[6]

Monsanto developed and patented the glyphosate molecule in the 1970s, and marketed it as Roundup from 1973. It retained exclusive rights to glyphosate in the US until its US patent expired in September 2000; in other countries the patent expired earlier. The Roundup trademark is registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office and still extant. However, glyphosate is no longer under patent, so similar products use it as an active ingredient.[7]

The main active ingredient of Roundup is the isopropylamine salt of glyphosate. Another ingredient of Roundup is the surfactant POEA (polyethoxylated tallow amine).

Monsanto also produced seeds which grow into plants genetically engineered to be tolerant to glyphosate, which are known as Roundup Ready crops. The genes contained in these seeds are patented. Such crops allow farmers to use glyphosate as a post-emergence herbicide against most broadleaf and cereal weeds.

APVMA Approval No: 82266/105334 STADIUM® TURF Herbicide PAGE 1 OF 2

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

For best results the turf and weeds should be actively growing at the time of treatment. Complete weed death may take up to 6 weeks. Faster results can be expected on smaller weeds. Due to residual effects on diflufenican, overseeding treated areas within 3 months of application may inhibit establishment of the turf grass.

MIXING

Shake original container before use. Agitate continuously to ensure

thorough mixing before and during application. Only mix sufficient

chemical for each day’s work. Surfactants (if used) should be added after

®
STADIUM TURF and water are mixed when the spray-tank is almost full.

MOWING

Avoid mowing during the 3 – 4 days preceding or following treatment.

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL

Store in the closed, original container in a dry, cool, well ventilated area out of direct sunlight. Triple or preferably pressure rinse containers
before disposal. Add rinsings to spray tank. DO NOT dispose of undiluted chemicals on site. If recycling, replace cap and return clean containers to recycler or a designated collection point. If not recycling, break, crush, or puncture and deliver empty packaging to an approved waste management facility. If an approved waste management facility is not available, bury the empty packaging 500 mm below the surface in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose, clear of waterways, desirable vegetation and tree roots, in compliance with relevant local, state or territory government regulations.

DO NOT burn empty containers or product.

SAFETY DIRECTIONS

Harmful if swallowed. Will damage the eyes. Will irritate skin. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. If product in eyes, wash it out immediately with water. Wash hands after use. When opening the container, preparing the spray and using the prepared spray wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist, washable hat, elbow-length PVC gloves and goggles. After each days use wash gloves, goggles and contaminated clothing.

Cleaning Spray Equipment Thoroughly Clean All Application Equipment After Use.
Rinse water should be discharged onto a designated area or if unavailable onto unused land away from desirable plants and water courses. Partial Cleaning (before spraying tolerant turf): After using STADIUM® TURF empty the tank completely and drain the whole system. Thoroughly wash inside the tank with a pressure hose. Quarter fill the tank with clean water and circulate through the pump, line, hoses and nozzles. Drain and repeat procedure twice. Complete Cleaning (before spraying susceptible plants): After using STADIUM® TURF empty the tank completely and drain the whole system. Thoroughly wash inside the tank with a pressure hose. Quarter fill the tank with clean water and circulate through the pump,

line, hoses and nozzles, then drain. Quarter fill the tank again and add
an alkaline detergent at 500 mL/100 L water and circulate through the system for at least 15 minutes. Drain, remove filters and nozzles and clean separately. Rinse inside the tank thoroughly using a pressure hose and flush system with clean water.

COMPATIBILITY

No information is available that indicates physical compatibility with
other products. Tank mixing other products with STADIUM® TURF cannot therefore be recommended. As formulations of other manufacturers’ products are beyond the control of Adama Australia, all mixtures should be tested prior to mixing commercial quantities.

RESISTANCE WARNING

STADIUM® TURF Selective Herbicide is
a member of the nicotinanilide, phenoxy
and pyridine groups of herbicides. STADIUM® TURF has the inhibitors
of carotenoid biosynthesis and disruptor of cell growth modes of action. For weed resistance management STADIUM® TURF is a Group F and I Herbicide. Some naturally occurring weed biotypes resistant to STADIUM® TURF and other Group F and I herbicides may exist through normal genetic variability in any weed population. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the weed population if these herbicides are
used repeatedly. These resistant weeds will not be controlled by STADIUM® TURF or other Group F or I herbicides. Since the occurrence
of resistant weeds is difficult to detect prior to use, Adama Australia accepts no liability for any losses that may result from the failure of STADIUM® TURF Selective Herbicide to control resistant weeds.

PRECAUTION

Manual Handling of turf: Hand-weeding and transplanting should not be performed before 2 weeks after spray application, unless workers wear overalls (or equivalent clothing) and chemical resistant gloves.

RE-ENTRY

DO NOT allow entry into treated areas until the spray has dried. When prior entry is necessary wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist
(or equivalent clothing) and chemical resistant gloves. Clothing must be laundered after each day’s use.

PROTECTION OF CROPS, NATIVE AND OTHER NON-TARGET PLANTS

DO NOT apply under weather conditions or from spraying equipment that may cause spray to drift onto nearby susceptible plants/crops, cropping lands or pastures. Spray drift from STADIUM® TURF application may cause injury to herbaceous plants, vegetables, fruit crops, vines, ornamentals and trees.

PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE, FISH, CRUSTACEANS AND ENVIRONMENT

Dangerous to fish and other aquatic life. DO NOT contaminate streams, rivers or waterways with the chemical or used containers.

  • PRIMO MAXX Turf Growth Regulator will promote greener, denser, more resilient turf with less growth, fewer clippings and therefore less expensive maintenance. PRIMO MAXX is the trusted growth regulator that pre-conditions turf for stress and optimises surface quality and colour.

    Features

    • Works by slowing the production of gibberellic acid, a plant hormone that promotes cell elongation.
    • Vertical shoot growth is slowed, while lateral and below-ground growth of rhizomes, stolons, tillers and roots is stimulated.

    Benefits

    • Enhanced playing surfaces with improved turf quality and colour
    • A valuable tool for pre-conditioning greens for hot, stressful summers – treated turf grows a stronger, deeper and more robust root system which leads to better heat stress tolerance, less wear and tear, and improved disease and pest tolerance
    • Regular applications deliver increased quality and durability

The recommended use rates are designed to give approximately a 20 to 50% reduction in clippings over a 2 to 6 week period. Full growth regulation by PRIMO MAXX begins about 3 to 5 days after application.

In practice the amount of growth regulation achieved will vary between situations due to environmental conditions and management practices. To some extent, therefore, application rates will need to be adjusted to match growing conditions, management practices and the amount of growth regulation required by the turf manager.

Repeat applications can be made as soon as turf resumes growth or more suppression is required. Areas treated with PRIMO MAXX should continue to receive regular maintenance practices, including irrigation, fertilisation, and weed, disease and insect control when necessary, as recommended for quality turf.
